SSI Wedding- Becky and Pierce!

On August 22nd, we had a wedding at Wesley United Methodist Church on St. Simons Island, GA for Becky and Pierce Moeller. The ceremony was absolutely spectacular, thanks to the amazing work of The Vine, on St. Simons Island. The florals were ivory in color, and accented by natural pods, twigs, etc that just accentuated the ambiance of the church itself. Becky carried a gorgeous bouquet, made up of flowers that each woman in her family carried in their wedding bouquets. The altar arrangement was absolutely magnificent and made a perfect focal point for the ceremony. Pictures to come soon!

Bridesmaids gifts!

It's usually customary to provide your bridesmaids with a little gift to just say thanks one more time and show them how much you love them. Soooo we've thought of some way cute ideas that will leave your bridesmaids wanting you to give them gifts more often :)

Clutch! This oh so perfect gift is extremely versatile and will be loved by everyone! There are wesbites and vendors that custom make purses and you can make each one special for each bridesmaid! So cute. So precious. So practical.

Makeup compact! For those gals like myself that absolutely love makeup and play with it all the time this is the perfect bridesmaids gift! You can indulge a little bit and buy different makeup for each bridesmaid. Eyeshadows, powders, bronzers, you name it! See Jane in Savannah has the perfect compacts and you can mix and match colors for each bride! I know I would be all over this gift! (www.seejaneshop.com)

Shoes and jewelry! If you like your maids to match then these are always good options for gifts. Just get their sizes or pick out earrings that you like and wah-la you have yourself a gift. This will ensure everyone will go together and be in unison with their accessories.

Something cozy! If you're getting married in the cooler months you might want to think about your bridesmaids and if they will actually be warm wearing those cute dresses. You can always give them a shawl or scarf of the color you choose to tie in your wedding theme and it will not only look precious but they'll be happy too! Check out www.etsy.com for some fantastic handmade items!

Our Fav Favors!

It may be a Southern thing but we believe that giving your guests a little prize is always a good thing! From candy to koozies there are TONS of cute ideas for your perfect wedding favor!

I have to mention that one of my fav's is the ever so popular CANDY bar. To me this is heaven on earth. You have an entire table full of different candies that not only look absolutely adorable all set up in different containers but they taste delicous too! Can't get much better than that.

Since the weather is about to start changing and it is going to get somewhat cool down here, having a wedding favor to keep your guests a little bit warmer isn't that bad of an idea. I've seen a bride have different shawls and scarfs as her favors and they were perfect for when the sun went down and the temperature dropped. Always something to think about when you're getting married in the colder months...

Pictures. Everyone loves them, everyone takes them. This is yet another reason why they would make the perfect wedding favor. Have a photo booth set up and let your guests get creative! It doesn't have to be an actual 'booth' either. Have a polaroid camera or a photographer with a fun background and some props and you've got yourself a favor! They will love this idea and love remembering the evening the next day :)

4 STYLISH wedding themes

These 4 themes have been popping up all over and we just had to share them with you!

1. DOTS! We all love polkadots-they just scream cute and adorable! There are so many ways you can incorporate dots into your wedding theme. Use them on everything, like the invites, the cake, the place cards, etc. They are so adorable and so easy to use with lots of fun colors!

2. FLOWERS! Flowers are fun and can really help express your theme! Use them to decorate the table for centerpieces, place them on your cake, and invites and there you go! So fun-so chic- so perfect.

3. STRIPES! Along with dots, stripes will make your theme extra fun and precious! Stripes also allow you to incorporate lots of colors and can dress a dull table. Use them in your place cards or menus and the table will look totally different! Tie the stripes in with one or two solid colors and you have yourself a theme!

4. LETTERS! Using your 'new' initials is no new idea but it is still fun and fabulous! Use initials and letters all over to incorporate your theme. Use them on your save-the-dates, on your cake, on your napkins, ALL over! It's one theme that just doesn't get old!

The perfect fit!

If there is one thing women know it's that every body has a different shape and EVERYTHING fits differently. Well when it comes to your wedding dress you must know what shape fits you best and which styles will compliment you the most...afterall this is what you've been waiting for!! Here are a few tipes for brides in need:
Hints that saves shape:
Sweetheart neckline- this neckline is flattering for every bust no matter how big or small.
Defined waistline- this will make your waist look smaller and will eliminate pounds instantly-who doesn't love this!
A-line- having an a-line shape at the bottom of the dress will hide most flaws or enhance curves

Perfect example!

Curvy:
Embrace those curves with a gown that shows off your hourglass shape! A mermaid-style or a dropped-waist dress is ideal but just go for something that hits below the hips but will still give you enough dancing room :) It would be most flattering to go for a sweetheart neckline to mimic the shape of your body’s natural curves and maybe throw in a decorative sash that will highlight your waistline. Things you don't want to go for are plunging necklines and empire waistlines.

Petite:
If you are petite like myself try to go for a more modern sheath. The slim silhouette adds length to your tiny frame but pay attention to the hemline though because if it’s too long or too short, you’ll end up looking even smaller! What flatters us the most is a V-neckline that draws the eye downward and gives the impression of height and try a slim style with a sheer lace or light tulle overlay- this will also give the slender look and play up on the height. Trumpet skirts hug the petite frame and are the best bet if you want to wear a fuller skirt. What we need to avoid is poufy tiers and layers and excessive embellishments like oversized bows and flowers.

Tall and Slender:
If you want to downplay your height, stick to more voluminous silhouettes. Or you could show off your lean shape in a flowing sheath. These slim looks hug your body for a sexier take on the traditional wedding gown. High necklines and silky fabrics show off your lean shape and are extremely flattering. You can even go with a voluminous A-line dress or ball gown and it won’t overwhelm your frame. What you need to avoid is headpieces, High heels (duh!), and hairstyles with lots of height!

D.I.Y.

Do it yourself. What a great philosophy. Not only does it save some money but it's really fun too! There are soooo many projects that you can do yourself and all you have to do is search for them and use your creativity! http://www.stylemepretty.com/ and http://www.theknot.com/ have so many fabulous ideas and they even go into detail on how you can make each project! Once you establish your overall 'theme' or colors you want to use you can start searching online and local homegood stores and you'll be so surprised at what you find! Local flea markets and yard sales will definitely have a few items you can choose from and turn into your masterpiece! It can be such a fun project and you can include family members or close friends so they can be involved. Put your own special touch on your wedding and enjoy a fun project...everyone wins :)

Signature drinks

Signature drinks have become the new hit item these days! You often find a signature drink during the cocktail hour and it's the perfect way to start off the celebration! Down south you will find Mint Julips and plenty of Peach flavored cocktails but your signature drink doesn't have to be alcohol. Flavored lemonades and teas are always a hit and will be sure to please everyone down here! You can offer your signature drink with maybe a couple other options during cocktail hour and then open up the bar with more options once the reception gets underway! It's the perfect way to say Welcome and your guests will be sure to love it- I know we do!

Vendor or Friend?

Most couples establish a budget for their wedding and will try to minimize costs as much as possible. Believe me we are definitely fans of this but we don't want to see the classic mistake made of choosing a friend as one of your vendors! This could be a big mistake because you don't want to cross that line at any point during the planning where one person ends up getting offended or doesn't agree on one issue. We see it ALL the time and there is such an easy way to avoid it! Don't get me wrong, an acquaintance is fine to use as a vendor, someone that is a friend of a friend is one thing but someone that you would be inviting to your wedding regardless if they are providing a service is just a big NO NO. You can ask friends to help out and be involved as much as possible but relying on them solely to perform a service is not the best choice. Ask for their input as much as possible on things like dresses and creative ideas for decor but stray away from hiring them for services. You want your friends to relax and have a fabulous time at your wedding- not be running around taking pictures or putting together flower arrangements! Your wedding is something for everyone to remember so keep it that way :)

Early bird catches the worm

We know that when you first get engaged your mind is immediately overloaded with tons of things you need to do. So the important thing is to remember to just take one step at a time and it will all come together! One helpful hint is to decide which vendors you would like to go with and book your vendors first thing! This will ensure your vendors are booked for your day and give you a great peace of mind! If you are a little iffy about which vendors to go with then check with the vendors you've already booked with for suggestions or use websites for recommendations. Stylemepretty (http://www.stylemepretty.com/) has a Little Black Book they use and Savannah Wedding Professionals (http://www.savannahweddingprofessionals.com/) has all of their members listed online and will give you suggestions for every vendor possible!

Bringing back the Silhouette

Silhouette's have been ALL over this wedding season and we wanted to write a little blurb about this fabulous trend! They are so unique and interesting and are perfect to include on invitations and tie into your decor. Make them black and white and have a solid color to tie in with them and give it that extra pop! We absolutely adore them!!

E is for Entertainment!

Most of us like to have a good time and it's no exception when you're planning your wedding! We have some awesome ideas that will give you that special touch and add the perfect twist to any reception or cocktail hour.
A good band can REALLY make a difference and the music for your cocktail hour can help provide insight to what your reception will hold. Having a funky, upbeat band not only makes it easier for your guests to mingle but can also tie in with your theme. If you are going for a more beachy or tropical theme try tying in steel drums or a blue grass band for a little cocktail hour and you'll be surprised at the reaction you'll get! This is the perfect way to add just enough detail and help tie in themes.
I know everyone has seen alllllll the Sister Act movies and still stare at the screen in awe when the singers hit those amazing notes! Well this is one trend that you can use in your ceremony and get that amazing reaction. Having a gospel chour sing in your ceremony can provide something different and creative to your wedding and not to mention everyone loves a good voice!
These are some fun ideas that we've seen that would be WONDERFUL for a reception. When you think of being a true southerner... you know that food will be involved. Adding little things like an ice cream bar or late night snacks will be a huge hit! Snacks like mini slider burgers, milkshakes and french fries will for sure make your guests remember your wedding! No one likes a good snack more than when they have been dancing and having a blast all night long.
A few different ideas that we've come across are having a watercolor sketch artist at your reception and have them paint different pictures all night long and these can be gifts to your guests! This is such a cute idea and the sketches turn out to be fabulous memories! Men will love to go outside and have a puff or two on a cigar so why not have a cigar roller present to really incorporate something different for the boys?! How awesome is this idea! Down south we also love our boiled peanuts and this can carry right on over to a wedding reception. You will have some happy guests if you give them a plastic bag and point them in the direction of a bushel of boiled peanuts!
To touch on something for the kiddies why not have a magician or a storyteller on site at the reception to help entertain those children who might be a little ready to call it a night?! Sean Driscoll is an AMAZING storyteller and has tons of different packages to choose from. He is also a magician and can perform the perfect show for the kids at any wedding reception. Check him out at http://www.thestoryship.com/!
A fortune teller during cocktail hour is a unique and interesting idea and will be sure to give your guests something to talk about! This is the perfect addition to a reception for that couple that wants to add something a little different and funky to their wedding.
And last but not least everyone loves to take a few photos to remember the night so why not make it apart of the reception?! Having a photobooth where your guests can take fun pics and place them in a guestbook with a little note is real unique and always fun to look back on! You can also have a polaroid camera set up with your guestbook and let guests take their own pics and place in the guestbook- this will also help save a few pennies!

DIY

DIY commonly knows as DO IT YOURSELF. One if the best motto's for weddings no question about it. There are so many cute ideas that go flowing through a gals head when she first gets engaged and hardly ever do we start to think about costs until it's a little too late. Well have no fear because we have found some adorable ideas to help cut the costs and still give you the perfect little details to make your day.

Save the dates: this is the first item that you send to your guests and you really want your theme and personality to show with these. You want the 'ohhhhhh' and 'ahhhhhh' reaction from your guests when they open your first invite! Tie in as much of your personalities as possible!
This adorable couple made there Save the Dates and tied in a 'baking' theme. He is a chef and she LOVES to bake (esp cupcakes) and so they tied it all together for their invite! Love, love, love. (http://www.stylemepretty.com/)

You can get all sorts of amazing ideas at http://www.thepartydress.net/. Dessert bars or candy bars are totally in right now and no one seems to be complaining about all the sweetness so I don't they are going to disappear anytime soon! This is a wonderful idea because not only is it precious but it can also double as your dessert and favors in one. You can tie in your theme and use certain candies that flow with your colors and are delicous too!

For more Do it Yourself projects check out http://www.stylemepretty.com/ and http://www.thepartydress.net/ daily! They are AWESOME sites and have soooo many great ideas!

our FAV stationery companies!

Hello again! We just wanted to provide everyone with a little info on our two fav stationery companies to work with! Posh Paperie and Lilah Papers are just fabulous. They both offer personal experience, custom artwork, and are so creative!
Oh we just love stationery and love, love, love working with Kalyn from Lilah Papers, http://www.lilahpaper.com/ ! It is so fun to customize and create a personalized design that works with our bride's theme and color scheme. Sending out a save the date that is personalized and reflects the event is the first glimpse that your guests will get into your wedding. It sets the tone and the atmosphere. I love carrying the design, monogram, motif or whatever it may be throughout your invites, programs, welcome booklets, cocktail napkins, etc. and Kalyn makes this so super easy! Her quick response and ability to work via email, make it so convenient for myself and my brides. She is so creative and so sweet and I am thrilled to have found her. Below are some samples of some recent items we worked on with my brides so take a look and check out her site!

Stationery is one of the MOST important aspects of wedding planning! It truly sets the tone for the whole event and your save-the-date or invitation is the first impression that your guests will get for the big day! One of our favorite stationery designers is the ever-so-talented, Posh Paperie! ( http://posh-paperie.com/) They are sure to make a big impression on your guests the minute that your guests open that envelope!! Each and every invitation that Posh Paperie creates is a “custom creation.” Elizabeth Seaton is the owner and paper stylist of Posh Paperie and is personally involved in every aspect of the creation process. Along with her amazing designer and co-paper stylist, Karrie Pyke, they create some of the most gorgeous and unique invitations, programs, etc. you can imagine. No matter how formal or informal, you can bet that Posh Paperie will create a one-of-a-kind invitation that your guests will never forget. Below are some of our personal favorites:

Ford Plantation!

This fabulous wedding took place at Ford Plantation in Richmond Hill which was once Henry Ford's rice plantation! We took the rice theme and ran with it and used the color scheme of golds and chocolates-which was absolutely gorgeous! The bride used "escort cards" that were stone coasters with the model T car on them to represent Henry Ford's Ford Model car and this also doubled as their wedding favors! We had an enclosed, air conditioned tent with a lounge bar, photo booth, and specialty bar area. The tables were squared to offer an intimate seating setup and keep with the bride's modern style. And to top it all off we through rice packets at the end of the night as they departed and the night came to an end. Overall this wedding was a HUGE success and we had so much fun coordinating this event! Special thanks to Mark Staff Photography and Garden on the Square for the amazing arrangements!
