Spring is in the air!

Well spring is now here and wedding season is definitely underway! With all the fun colors floating around I wanted to share some of the top color combo's for 2009!
Of course you can always stay true to the 'classic' wedding and go with whites or cream colors and add a touch of platinum or bronze. If you're going for a more vintage look this is always a good color choice. It's also fun to pair just one solid color against a white or cream color. This can give your wedding the classic style and also spice it up a bit, making that one color POP a little more!

Pink is often a girls favorite color and it can be used in so many ways! From light pink to bright pink this will definitely add a little color to your wedding! You can concentrate on having an arrangement of different pink flowers and choose solid color accents for your decor to tie it all together. By using bright flowers and bouquets, you can use silver or pewter accents such as candle holders or napkins. Accenting your table linens with your bright bouquet will really make your colors pop! Use a lace detailed tablecloth or table runner and spice it up with lots of candle light to get that feminine, romantic feel. Or you could also do just the opposite, and have light solid neutral colors for your florals and add bright colorful accents in your decor. Either way pink is definitely a color that screams SPRING!

Now if you are really wanting to add some color to your wedding you can go a little bolder and bring out some real bright colors! Greens and oranges are really in this Spring and Summer and the ones that are really daring to be bold are bringing out the fuchsia and blue colors! With bright flowers and accents you can really spice up a reception and give it that all around fun feeling. If you are having your reception in a room or outdoors where you know you are going to need a lot of help decorating and spicing up the area a bit, bright flowers and arrangements are definitely what you need! You don't want to do a color overload, but pick your three or so fav colors and roll with it! If you choose bold, bright flowers then you may want to stick with solid not so bright table linens to tone down the room some and make your florals really stand out. You can add color through the tinest details. You could do colorful place cards or table numbers, use a color to tie a bow around the seat cover at each table, or use color napkins at each place setting. One important thing to remember when you are using these bold colors, is to not use too MUCH of them at once! You want to make sure they tie in together and that you use just enough to create that fun feeling, but not be too much to where it is a color overload in your reception area. Basically, color is a fun way to explore and it really helps to define your overall theme for your wedding- we love it!

Sweet Tooth

So as the weather climbs to higher temperatures and we get settled into the warm sunny weather, we down here in the South tend to indulge in a little sweetness too. We love to cool off with some delicious homemade ice cream or dive into a few baked goods that you can't find anywhere else! And the fun part is that this can tie into your wedding too! Having an ice cream bar or dessert bar with lots of goodies is always a hit. It can provide a fun way for people to enjoy their fav treat and just have fun with different toppings and flavors! Or you can even have a candy table set up with several options of your favorite candies and this can also be used as your wedding favors! Just get a cute little bag ,or spice it up with something different like a mason jar, add some cute ribbon to tie it off and you are good to go! This idea is perfect for Spring and Summer weddings and it gives that little signature touch of the South!

Making the 'Maids' happy...

Along with the stress of picking out your own wedding dress, you also have the additonal stress of picking out those oh so important bridesmaids dresses! Sometimes it may feel like you are trying to accomplish the impossible but we know that there is a perfect dress out there for everyone! It is important to remember that all of your bridesmaids may have different styles and come in all different shapes, but trust us when we tell you that it is possible to make all of your maids happy. An extremely popular theme is to mix it up a bit and for the bride to decide on a color and fabric for the dress you want for your maids and then you can let them decide what style that they think would suit them best. Some may choose to do a strapless dress while others might prefer a spaghetti strap or halter top dress. It all depends on what makes them feel the most comfortable and look their best! A bride always wants to be concious of the price and remember not to go too overboard when choosing the perfect dress for your maids. And choosing a dress that they can wear again and just won't sit in their closet and collect dust is always a good way to go as well! The best way to make the bride and her maids happy is to discuss the needs and wants for the Bride (since it is HER day) and what styles makes the bridesmaids most comfortable!

Sweet Southern Charm

That cute distinct southern accent isn't the only good thing you get from coming down South, we also offer some of the most gorgeous wedding locations for your perfect wedding! Not only do we have the coast with a perfect beach location, but we also have the warm sunny weather to back it up! When you are planning a wedding down South and especially when you are bringing your guests in from out of town you want to create that 'Southern' feeling and make everyone feel right at home- after all, that's what we do best down here! The best way to create that feeling is to tie in as much 'southern charm' through each and every detail throughout the wedding. It's the smallest details that make the biggest difference. You can start with the Save the Dates and invitations and go from there adding just a touch of more detail as you go. By adding different signature accents or designs to your Save the Dates and invitations you can first establish your theme and use that design or accent throughout the wedding. For example, you could use the signature seashell representing the coast and place that on the invitations and then use it on little things like napkins and the place cards for your reception or you can even tie it into your wedding favors.

St. Simons and Savannah have so many unique choices to add a little spice to your ceremony or reception. Both St. Simons and Savannah have local trolley tours that could provide transportation to and from your ceremony and reception! (http://www.oldsavannahtours.com/, http://www.stsimonstours.com/) This is a different way to give your guests a fun little activity while providing them with transportation too!
Of course food is another thing that the South has managed to do well. There are a lot of southern dishes that you can serve during your reception for appetizers or the main course. One of our fav vendors is Straton Hall on Jekyll Island that can provide anything from shrimp and grits to any type of meat you can think of! They can cater any where in the Golden Isles and will travel to Savannah too! (http://www.stratonhall.com/) Creative Catering is another one of our preferred vendors (http://www.creativecateringga.com/) and they specialize in catering to any size group anywhere in Savannah and the Low Country!
And we can't forget the most important part of the reception...the sweets! From cookies to cakes Savannah and St. Simons have it all. Cookies by Sandy is located in Brunswick, GA and offers delicious cookies in any shape or size! They can be decorated any way you like with your choice of color and design to fit your wedding needs! (http://www.cookiesbysandy.com/ ) Two Smart Cookies located in Savannah, GA can also provide yummy cookies for your reception! These two women sure know how to make a delicious cookie and can provide any decorative design that you can imagine! (http://www.twosmartcookies.com/ ) As for that big cake that you and your guests will be diving into, we have Savannah Custom Cakes and I-Do Cakes by Mary Ann Daniels that both offer beautiful custom designed wedding cakes! (http://www.i-do-cakes.com/, http://www.savannahcustomcakes.com/) This is one taste testing I know you will enjoy!

The fun of Stationary!

Okay so who doesn't love cute, decorative stationary right?! Stationary is the beginning of letting your guests get a glimpse into your wedding design and theme. Your theme can be debuted with your Save the Date and later be complimented by an invitation, your programs, a weekend guide, place cards, etc. Some of our favorites sites are our friends at http://www.floatpaperie.com/, http://www.posh-paperie.com/ , and http://www.whiteaisle.com/. Each piece of stationary you use can add to your wedding theme and give it a little twist along the way. If you are wanting to do a fall type wedding and use brown tones with a touch of color to spice it up, you could put little pieces of color on the stationary piece with one signature accent- like a leaf or a tree! This accent could be placed on all your pieces of stationary, like the Save the Date and invitation, to tie in your theme! Or you could dive into some color and do a more bright and upbeat wedding theme for a spring or summer style wedding! Stationary is such a fun way to express your style and get you off to a good start for The Big Day!
